Each month, we like to provide our parents with a seasonal produce of the month. We hope that you learn something new about a fruit and/or vegetable and that you introduce it to your family if you haven't done so already! 

June 2023                                                                                                             Green Beans

Green beans are in season in the Summer and Fall. One-half cup of green beans provides a good source of fiber, vitamin A, and potassium. Fiber supports a healthy digestive system, vitamin A keeps our eyes working and our immune systems strong, and potassium is an electrolyte that helps to build muscle and keep our hearts healthy. When shopping at your local store or farmers market, choose green beans with a bright green color and a firm texture that snaps easily when bent. Enjoy green beans with lemon juice, vinegar, minced garlic, dried cranberries, chopped nuts, low-fat salad dressing, and herbs such as fresh or dried dill or basil!
